It’s nearly the end of the calendar year, and there is something for people who enjoy the outdoors in winter to remember.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Jeremy King says that for those times when there is plenty of snow on the ground, there are many people who like to ride around on snowmobiles. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they need to remember to register their vehicle before the end of the year, and why it’s important to get that done.
“I want to make that emphasis important. It’s for the year and you can start buying that license on September 1st and until the last day of December. But that registration sticker, it’ll expire on December 31st and that’s what I mean by the year where some people get confused because their hunting and fishing licenses expire on January 10th and our boating expires in April every three years so this will expire every year on December 31st.”
King mentions that this new process to register was adopted just last year, and that’s a big reason he wants to make sure that people remember about this registration deadline. He adds that once you do have that updated registration sticker, make sure to apply it to your snowmobile.
