With winter weather making a return appearance, the Dallas County Health Department stresses the importance of having an emergency kit while on the road.
Community Health Educator Natalie Del Vecchio says while no one expects to get into an accident, it’s best to be prepared by having an emergency kit in the vehicle.
She details items in the kit should include a warm blanket or sleeping bag, a cell phone charger or power bank, flashlight, jumper cables, ice scraper and a shovel.
Del Vecchio adds that other items that would be good to put in the kit include extra warm clothing like hats, gloves and socks, water, non-perishable food like energy bars and a first aid kit.
