A portion of the City of Perry’s Downtown Improvement Project has wrapped up before the start of the new year.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says the alley and parking stalls in front of Wells Fargo Bank were recently reopened. He adds that work was delayed because of a gas line issue. The gas line needed to be lowered before the storm sewer could be installed and concrete could be poured.

That work has been completed and Peterson details that TK Concrete will take a break this winter before construction ramps back up during the warmer months.

“Excited to be able to plow snow right through that alley the rest of our snow events and get going on the rest of it first thing in the spring.”

Peterson says the Downtown Improvement Project will continue with redoing the parking lot at Warford and 1st Street. Work will then turn to the street with construction on Warford from 1st to 3rd and then 2nd from Warford to Willis. He adds that everything is scheduled to be completed by next year’s summer or fall construction season.
