The leader of the West Central Valley Girls Wrestling Team discusses how facing great schools at meets helps prepare them for later in the year.

The Wildcats have participated in seven meets so far this season, with two at home in Stuart. Head Coach Amanda Carl points out that there’s been good leadership from juniors Rhowen Miller and Willow Ray. Carl details that WCV had a newer experience this year, competing at Valley High School in West Des Moines and says the girls held their own.

“And I feel like our girls stepped up to the plate, and wrestled exceptionally well compared to just seeing the normal ‘around the area girls’. We actually on January 10th have our home wrestling tournament in Stuart, and we should have about 16 teams there along with our own. Hopefully we have good size brackets to give these girls some matches.”

The Wildcats placed 11th in the West Des Moines Valley Tournament. WCV will be back on the mat this Saturday traveling to Clarinda High School at 10am.
