The AC/GC Chargers wrestling team has seen much success over the season so far, and the dominance of senior Jack Sheeder has helped see to that.
Sheeder is the Chargers 285 weight class participant, and has some great experience for the team as one of the four returning members of last year’s group that went to the state meet. In the first meet of the season, Sheeder won by forfeit against East Union, before beating West Central Valley’s Jaxton Strawn by fall in 11 seconds, and falling to Nodaway Valley’s Ashton Honnold by fall in 2:53. In their second meet, he took down Interstate 35’s Gunner Hommer by fall in 39 seconds, Lenox’s Jamarcus Brown by fall in 44 seconds, and Coon Rapids-Bayard’s Nolan Miller by fall in 46 seconds.
In their first tournament of the season, Sheeder beat Audubon’s Lane Meyer by fall in 3:19, then Harlan’s Jaspyr Nielsen by fall in 40 seconds. He then was defeated by South Central Calhoun’s Jace Pedersen by fall in 2:28 seconds, before falling by major decision to Earlham’s Keegan Long with a score of 9-1, taking fourth place.
In their second home meet of the season, Sheeder won by forfeit against Central Decatur, then lost to Earlham’s Long by fall in 37 seconds, and beat Pleasantville’s Nathaniel Olivier by fall in 27 seconds. In the fourth meet of the season, he won by forfeit against Ogden and Panorama, before taking down Southeast Valley’s Korbin Spangler by fall in 31 seconds. In the last action before winter break, Sheeder took first place in the 285 weight class at the Carroll Tiger Invitational with a first round bye, then a victory over Denison-Schleswig’s Aidan Eggeling by fall in 43 seconds, and a win over Carroll’s Gavin Holt by fall in 3:17.
