Two of three people that were allegedly involved in the burglary of two Greene County businesses have been arrested.
According to court documents, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation on December 17th, when the Casey’s General Store in Scranton and the Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Rippey notified them that the buildings were broken into and items were missing, with the first incident happening at 11:42pm. Investigators saw what appeared to be the same three individuals at both locations, where one male broke the front glass door to Casey’s causing over $2,000 of damage, and all three suspects took $747 worth of cigarettes and alcohol.

The Sheriff’s Office was alerted five hours later of the other location in Rippey, where a large window had been smashed by one male, causing over $2,000 of damage, and the other male took $540 worth of cigarettes. The online affidavit states that investigators worked with Casey’s and discovered three other locations had been burglarized by the same individuals in Story, Warren and Keokuk Counties.
Court documents show that during the investigation, the vehicle that was used in both incidents was located in Boone, where a search warrant was executed and the vehicle was seized. Investigators note that the three individuals were also identified. One of the arrests happened on January 1st, where 46-year-old Rocky Hughes was charged with a Class B Felony for ongoing criminal conduct, two Class D Felonies for third degree burglary, two Class D Felonies for second degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree theft and a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree theft.
Hughes was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $30,000 cash or surety bond. Additionally, Sheriff Jack Williams says a second suspect, Cullum Corpron was also arrested in Story County from an unrelated incident, and awaiting to be transported to the Greene County Jail. He adds that the third suspect remains at large. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
