The Greene County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams were in action earlier this week in Ames.

According to Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway, the senior and junior teams competed at the Hansen Agricultural Center against 121 youth that represented over 40 other teams across the state in the 4-H division. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the senior team of Cash Williams, Breanna Pope, Chloe Julick and Paisley Lautner placed 7th overall and were the third highest-scoring team in the sheep and goat division. She adds that Pope was also 7th individually.

Additionally, Hardaway points out that the junior team was 16th overall and they were one of the youngest teams. Those team members include Avril and Becca Shahan, Jentry Hedges and Stella Lautner.

Hardaway is proud of all of the team members on their strong performance and that Monday’s contest also included college teams as they tune up for their national competition. She says the next contest for the Greene County Livestock Judging Teams will be in February at the Iowa Beef Expo.
