Even with less than ideal weather, there’s plenty of things that 4-H members can do to prepare for fair time.
Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Rachel Muir says that while weather may affect how much someone can do outside with their animals to prepare for the Iowa State Fair and Guthrie County Fair, there’s still a lot that can be done indoors, especially for non-livestock events. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that 4-H members can check the Extension website for ideas.
“There’s a whole bunch of different 4-H at home activities that you can participate in and bring to the Guthrie County Fair as a static project or you can even start planning for what you want to start accomplishing in April, May.”
Muir mentions that the work for these non-livestock events can begin at any time. She adds that if individuals need help with working on a project, the Extension will have several workshops that they can take part in to help them learn about different events.
