Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School students will perform at this evening’s South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) honor band.

Six students earned placement in this year’s honor band, including Eden Sedars (flute), Gianna Benetti (clarinet), Avery Lenaghan (clarinet), Meredith Maddy (trumpet), Devin Morey (saxophone) and Braylon Whipps (trumpet).

This will be the third time performing with the SCIBA honor band for Maddy, a junior. She discusses what she is looking forward to about today’s performance. 

“The music is really exciting and usually more challenging than what we play in class. And it’s also always fun to just be able to play with people who don’t go to your school and who are super invested in band. So I feel like getting in (to SCIBA) again, I’m just looking forward to that experience.”

Maddy, Benetti, Lenaghan, Sedars and Morey will perform with the 11th-12 grade SCIBA ensemble while Whipps will play with the 9th-10th grade band.

The concert will be held at 5 p.m. today at Ankeny High School.
