Both the DCG girls and boys wrestling teams traveled to Oskaloosa High School to match up against the Indians, as well as Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial wrestling on Thursday night.

The girls were up first, and after a few forfeits in the lighter weight classes, Delanee Smith got DCG on the board with a pin in the 120. Oskaloosa fought back with two wins by fall, but Janaya Malmberg pinned her opponent in 44 seconds to get the Mustangs back on track. Ashtyn Jahangir followed with a pin, and DCG came out on top 54-18. Next up was Ankeny. This was a hard-fought battle for both groups, with all but one weight class ending in a fall. Nia Kiley, Addyson Bowers, Brielea Kendall, Jenah Gray, and Aubrey Borcheding joined Jahangir with pins in the match, but it was not enough to overcome Ankeny as they fell 42-36.

The boys were up next, and they also took on the Indians first. Peyton Philavahn kicked things off for DCG with a pin, then he was followed by Grant Stanford and Lucas Shall as the only Mustangs to earn pins against Oskaloosa. DCG did emerge with a hard-fought 53-24 victory. Ankeny Centennial was the next opponent for the boys. Noah Kerndt, Cole Hemmingsen, Brayden Crosser, and Kellen Wegner joined Stanford with pins vs. the Jaguars to earn a 50-26 win.

This upcoming week, the girls and boys host duals on Thursday inside the Meadows Main Gym.
