Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Activities Director Rod Wiebers is enjoying how the camaraderie of the bowling program is bringing the school district together.

After partnering with the Waukee School District for a number of years, ADM piqued the interest of enough student athletes to begin their own team last season during the 2024-25 year. It took both the girls and boys approximately five games the inaugural season to win their first meet, but this year, both started the season off at 5-1.

Wiebers is ecstatic to see the program continuing to grow in its second year with the amount of students participating, plus the leadership from Head Coaches Sarah Boesen and Jason Kilker. Wiebers is also grateful to Bryce Smith, the Owner of the Adel Family Fun Center, where the Tigers practice and play home matches.

“It’s an outstanding partnership with them, and they’ve opened us into their facility and they’ve done it with open arms and they’ve been really excited and they’ve helped promote our programs. The amount that we’ve seen within our program to be where they’re at, wins come as a product of how we do things, and our coaches just do things the (right) way and they care about people, they’re passionate (and) they work really hard.”

Wiebers is excited about the rest of January and the February championship season. ADM will be back at the Adel Family Fun Center on Tuesday in a singular match against Carroll at 3:30pm.
