The 2026 portion of the Greene County High School bowling season gets underway at 4 p.m. today when Coach John Woodford’s girls and boys bowlers host Gilbert at Spare Time Lanes in Jefferson. The Rams haven’t had a competition that counts on the season record since Dec. 12 and the girls have gone since Dec. 18 without a match that counts.

The Rams and Tigers meet in a match between two teams from the newly formed Heart of the Raccoon Bowling Conference. Greene County and others in the new league are from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference while Gilbert and other Raccoon River Conference schools are in the Heart of the Raccoon.

The Gilbert girls are 4-2 on the season with a high series of 2,103 pins while the Rams are 2-2 with a season high pin total of 1,733. On the boys’ side, the Tigers are 2-4 with a season high of 2,628 and the Rams are 3-1 with 3,019 pins as their highest pin total so far.
