
Greene County and Manson-Northwest Webster split a non-conference high school basketball doubleheader on Monday night in Manson. Coach Tori Ogden’s Rams won the girls’ game 56-36 and the Cougars took the boys’ game by a 52-44 final.
The Greene County girls are 4-8 overall and although the team had just three girls score points vs. the Cougars, that was more than enough to get a road win for the third time this season. Senior Becca Anderson had 26 points with 18 for junior Makenna Ebersole and a dozen from senior Kaycee Pittman. The Rams led 28-20 at halftime, and still within striking range in the fourth quarter until the Rams scored the last 12 points of the game to win by 20. Freshman Leighton Daggett had nine points to lead M-NWW, now 1-9.
The Cougars scored nine of the last 11 points in the boys’ game to improve to 4-6 while the Rams fell to 2-10. Trailing just 43-42 midway through the final stanza, the Rams went cold down the stretch. Junior Coy Moline had 17 points to lead M-NWW and junio rIsaiah Daggett added 13. For the Rams, senior Rafe Michaelsen scored 10 points with nine each from senior Teagan Chisholm and junior Lincoln Schwander. Chisholm hit three three-pointers. The Rams were six of 13 shooting free throws while the Cougars went 12 of 17.
The Rams remain on the road tonight at Perry. The first time these longtime rivals met the Rams won the girls’ game by a 49-47 scores and the Blue Jays had a storng finish to down the Rams, 56-48.
