It was an exciting comeback for the Perry Bluejays on Tuesday night as Perry played host to the Greene County Rams for Heart of Iowa Basketball action. The Bluejays began the comeback in the second half, with Gustavo Drahos scoring 20 points in the second half to help Perry battle back but the Bluejays just fell short in the end 60-58.

The Rams defense seemed to have the Bluejays number as Greene County held the Bluejays offense to only 19 points in the first half, outscoring Perry 24-19 in the first half. Coming back from halftime down by five, the Rams managed to hang onto a two point lead after the Bluejays outscored Greene County 19-16 in the third quarter beginning the comeback for Perry. A back and forth battled ensued in the fourth, with both teams scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter alone, but the Rams held on to their two point victory over the Jayettes. Held to only four points in the first half, Drahos was electric in the second half putting up 21 points, making three straight free throws in the final seconds of the game to secure 25 points in the 60-58 loss.

Perry basketball has two more games this week, traveling to Woodward Academy on Thursday, before ending the week on Friday with another Heart of Iowa Conference match up traveling to West Marshall. Coverage on KDLS for Thursday’s match up is set to begin at 7pm, with tip off at 7:30.
