The Greene and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office assisted a situation in a Carroll County town concerning a firearm being discharged.
According to court documents, at 5:43pm on Monday, Coon Rapids Police Officers responded to a call where witnesses claimed that a firearm had been allegedly discharged into the air by 32-year-old Tara Holmes of Coon Rapids in front of her home due to a verbal argument with other people. Court documents show that after the incident, she and another suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Simon McAlister, drove away from the scene.
Court documents state that the Coon Rapids Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance of Greene, Guthrie and Audubon County Sheriff’s Deputies, went to the residence where the alleged vehicle was found and they were confronted by McAlister from an attached garage doorway, wearing body armor, with several loaded firearm magazines and pointed a loaded handgun at authorities.
The criminal complaint states that after one minute of commands from law enforcement to drop the weapon, McAlister complied and was arrested, along with Holmes who was also at the residence, without further incident.
McAlister has been charged with two Class C Felonies for assault on persons in certain occupations and Holmes was charged with a simple misdemeanor for reckless use of a firearm. They were both booked into the Carroll County Jail.
