A Celebration of Life for Clarence “Chip” Owen Griffith, 77, of Perry, will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Robbins Ballroom in Woodward. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com.
Chip was born on March 8, 1948, in Perry, Iowa, to Clarence Owen Griffith, Sr., and Ann Sophia (Barth) Griffith. He graduated from JYB (Jamaica, Yale, and Bagley) High School with the Class of 1966.
Following high school, Chip worked for Farmer Hybrid Seed Company in Perry and later served as a security guard in both Des Moines and Perry. He was a devoted caregiver to his mother for many years until her passing. Chip also delivered the Des Moines Register in Perry and worked for many years at the Iowa State Fair and the Lake Robbins Ballroom, along with various other jobs throughout his life.
A lifelong learner, Chip took community college and correspondence courses and had a deep love for books and history. Known fondly as the family geologist, he had a curious and inquisitive mind. Chip was a long-time member of the Dallas County Republicans, First United Methodist Church in Perry, and the Perry Masons. He spent his life residing in Dallas and Greene Counties. Chip’s second family was the Lake Robbins Ballroom family, which meant a great deal to him.
Chip is survived by his sister, Susan Griffith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his employer and friend, Lyn Wilkinson of Bouton; the entire Lake Robbins Ballroom family; along with cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Owen Griffith, Sr., and Ann Griffith.
