The Greene County School Board met in regular session Wednesday night.
The Board approved three student driving permits, including Madison Christensen, Paul Thorp and Teagan Warnke. They also approved several fundraiser requests, one early graduation request for Adam Bills, and the 2026-27 at-risk and dropout prevention program. They also approved the 2026 soccer, softball and baseball coaches and the second reading of new board policies concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence.
Additionally, the Board approved to establish a girls wrestling program starting the 2026-27 school year. Following last month’s initial interest survey results, along with additional information such as female participation comparisons with all sports, comfortability of numbers of girls in the youth wrestling program and financial stability to provide it, the Board unanimously approved to start it.
The Board also approved the purchase of the high school greenhouse improvements from the company Stuppy not to exceed $63,500, which will be funded from the Max Johnson Educational Trust; and an amount not to exceed $40,000 for a six-row planter from Reuters to use on the test plots. The School Budget Review Committee requests for administrative costs for Grandwood and Woodward Academy were tabled, due to not receiving the reports prior to the meeting. The meeting then ended in a closed session for the superintendent evaluation.
