Greene County Public Health recently announced the transition of two programs that are fully provided by another entity.
GCPH Director Shelby Cooklin says one of those programs is the Health Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success (HOPES). She explains that HOPES is designed to support families and help them flourish with education and assisting new parents in their homes with a newborn. She gives the reason for why Greene County Public Health had to offload this program to New Opportunities in Carroll.
“This change was due to state funding and some restructuring that’s going on, not because the program was no longer needed.”
Cooklin points out that another program is 1st Five, that helps families get connected to additional services their child may need early in their life. She adds that Greene County Public Health had been contracting this program with New Opportunities and it is now fully with that organization in Carroll.
Contact New Opportunities in Carroll at 712-792-9266 for more information about these programs and how someone can obtain these services.
