
The West Central Valley (WCV) Basketball Teams were on the road for a non-conference matchup in Glidden on Thursday, as the Wildcat girls fell 47-41, but the boys won their ninth contest 60-49.
In the girls game, WCV had a strong first quarter, leading 17-12 going into the second. Both Wildcat teams scored a combined 10 points, as WCV held a 21-18 advantage at the halftime break. The game remained tight in the third quarter, with WCV leading 34-32, then Glidden-Ralston powered through to win the final quarter 15-7 to take the victory at 47-41.
Glidden-Ralston improves to 6-6 on the year, as WCV falls to 4-9 overall.
On the boys side, Glidden-Ralston got off to a fast start holding an eight-point lead in the first quarter, but WCV senior Kade Wilson hit a long shot from three-quarters court as time expired to cut the deficit to five, trailing 20-15. WCV outscored Glidden-Ralston 14-6 in the second quarter to take a 29-26 advantage into halftime. The offense for WCV continued to cook in the third quarter, notching 16 points, extending the lead to 45-33 into the fourth to carry them to a comfortable 60-49 win.
WCV powers to 9-4 on the season, while Glidden-Ralston drops to 2-10 overall. Glidden-Ralston returns to action tonight, hosting Ar-We-Va, and WCV will take on Pleasantville tonight in Stuart.
