When you think of the Greene County Historical Museum in Jefferson, you may think it caters to a certain group of people, but it is for all ages to explore and learn.
Co-Director Mike Piepel says every year, they have student groups that will come into the museum, during the school year, to see the exhibits that they have on display. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio giving students opportunities to visit the museum is a great thing.
“And trying to make a program or a display of interest to them and to continue to understand history, not only of Greene County, but the history of the state of Iowa and the history of the United States. I think that it’s wonderful working with students and we have excellent cooperation.”
Piepel adds that throughout the museum there are also displays that are “kid-friendly” where youth can touch and pick items up. Those displays are denoted with a green dot to signify that people can pick up the items.
