The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball Teams were in action for a Raccoon River Conference matchup in Adel on Friday against North Polk, with the girls falling 53-51 and the boys rolled 66-34.

In the girls game, the Tigers played without seniors Brecken Morse and Ellis Smith, who usually start, and Head Coach Danielle Craig inserted freshman Macie Leinen and junior Bella Spreacker in their places. The first quarter was neck and neck, with the score tied at 15 a piece.

ADM won the second quarter 14-11 to take a 29-26 advantage into the halftime locker room, behind 16 points from junior Alexis Maxwell. The third quarter was strong for the Tigers, going up by as many as 12 points, and took a 43-36 lead into the final frame. However, the Comets used a 17-8 run to storm back with great play from juniors Fayth Sullivan and Campbell Schulz to win a close contest at 53-51.

North Polk was led in scoring by Sullivan, who had 24 points, followed by Schulz at 11, and sophomore Jaslyn Rasmussen with 8 points. Maxwell was the high player on ADM’s side with 16 points, then it was sophomore Ella Subbert with 14, and junior Bella Spreacker finishing with 10 points.

The Comets improve to 11-2 on the year (8-1 RRC), while the Tigers drop to 7-6 overall (6-3 RRC).

The boys were looking to win game number 10, but competed without senior Hudson Shull. ADM jumped out to a 15-7 first quarter lead, then garnered 16 more points in the second quarter to climb to a 31-19 advantage at halftime. The second half was all Tigers, outscoring the Comets 35-15 to coast to a 66-34 victory.

ADM was charged by senior Hudson Lorensen with 17 points, then it was senior Trey Bryte’s 16, and sophomore Walker Holmberg concluding with 10 points. North Polk had senior Jack Spieker as the high man with 10 points and junior Cale Petersen with 7 points.

The Comet boys fall to 6-7 on the season (3-6 RRC), and the Tigers reach 10-1 overall (8-1 RRC).
