District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair
The first week of the 2026 Legislative session has come to a close.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that the first week is mainly ceremonial, with several organizational set ups. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the middle three days of the week were updates from state officials.
“The governor gave her condition of the state on Tuesday, Chief Justice Christiansen gave her condition of the judiciary on Wednesday, and the Major General gave his condition of the guard on Thursday. And essentially set up a framework for where they’d each like to see their respective areas of the state go for the upcoming legislative session.”
Sinclair mentions that the committees in each chamber then held their organizational meetings to prepare for this second week. She adds that this helps them get ready to begin work, along with the process of moving bills through the legislature.
