Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Activities Director Rod Wiebers speaks on the success he’s witnessed within the Tigers Wrestling program.
Wiebers shares that he’s grateful for the partnership with the Waukee School District, as girls from ADM wrestle alongside Waukee, Waukee Northwest, and Van Meter to make the Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team. He reveals the partnership pushes the girls to be better wrestlers, but is also building lots of friendships.
On the boys side, Wiebers discusses that Head Coach Chris Rupe does a nice job of preparing the kids each time they enter the mat to perform at their best. He emphasizes that between both programs, the ADM School District is in good hands.
“There’s just a lot of positive momentum going on in our wrestling (program). Both with Raccoon River Wrestling and our boys wrestling here, and it’s just fun to watch Coach (Chris) Rupe and his staff work with our kids, Coach (James) Biscoglia and the same thing with Raccoon River. Just the way they work with kids, the way they care about kids, and they just keep getting better every single day.”
Wiebers is optimistic that both programs will be able to advance student athletes to the state tournament next month in February.
