A popular program about beef cattle production is returning to Dallas County next month.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Dallas and Boone Counties will host Boots in the Barn on Wednesdays in February. The program will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays starting on February 4 at Towncraft Gallery, 1122 Willis Avenue, in Perry.

Marketing Manager Sarah Wood says this program is for new and experienced producers. She adds that topics will include animal health, the birthing process, nutrition and animal selection.

The program will be led by Iowa State University Extension Beef Specialist Chris Clark. Wood explains that it will include interactive learning and hands-on activities, including a simulator for participants to see how a calf is pulled.

Wood details that the registration cost of $50 includes meals and resource materials.

She encourages those interested to sign up before the registration deadline of January 28 as the program has been popular in the past.
