
Greene County hosted the Madrid Tigers last night in Jefferson in non-conference girls’ basketball heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradiocom. A great start and a 21-6 lead for the Rams did not hold up in the 47-43 loss and Coach Tori Ogden’s team fell to 5-10 while the Tigers improved to 8-6.
Greene County scsored two points in the last six minutes of the first half and went without a field goal in the fourth as the lead shrunk to 23-27 at halftime and 38-35 after the end of three periods. The Tigers two top scorers on the season torched the Rams for a combined 42 points, 27 by Laura Eagleton and 15 from Lauren Dvorak. They normally combine for 27 points per game. The Rams had a 15 point, four three-point goal night from junior Sara Morlan with 12 by senior Becca Anderson and 10 points from junior Makenna Ebersole, who picked up her fourth foul just 25 seconds into the third quarter, but did not foul out. The Tigers won despite make just eight of 23 free throw attempts while the Rams went 12 of 20 for one of their best efforts of the season.
The Rams are off until Friday when they go to Monroe for a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader vs. the PCM teams on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradiocom.
