A professional musician that lives in Jefferson, was part of a winning combination at an artistic song showcase this past weekend.
Chad Elliott, from Jefferson, and Kathryn Severing-Fox performed as the Weary Ramblers, who won the International Blues Challenge for Best Solo/Duo Band this past weekend in Memphis, Tennessee, hosted by The Blues Foundation. The bluegrass/Americana duo was represented by the Central Iowa Blues Society and were up against over 130 acts in the same category.
Elliott and Severing-Fox are over the moon with excitement after winning the award. They believe this recognition by the blues community means so much to them and they are grateful for the opportunities that come their way because of this kind of honor.

Additionally, Elliott also won the Best Guitarist in the Solo/Duo Acts as well from the International Blues Challenge. He says it has been gratifying to work on his own hybrid version of blue guitar all his life and it was a shock to receive that kind of an award and it means a lot to him to be selected out of all the great guitar players at the IBC. The two recently released their second album this past fall called, “Driftwood.”
