Jefferson Matters is encouraging anyone who wants to volunteer with their award-winning organization, can do so at the start of a new year.
Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says there are six different teams that people can participate in and that there is something for everyone, whether you have a passion for one thing, an interest in another thing or are talented in a particular area.
“The neat thing about living in a small community is when you get involved, you can see your impact. And certainly, we are proud of that part of who we are and what we do is [providing that opportunity for people to want to contribute to the community in some way or be a part of things.”
Wetrich explains that the six teams include the Organizational Team which supports and recruits volunteers and does fundraising for Jefferson Matters, Events Team plans and conducts each event throughout the year, Economic Vitality Team support, recruits and finds funding and grant resources for the businesses. He points out that the Design Team handles the outdoor aesthetics of the downtown area and awards mini-grants for businesses, the Promotions Team focuses on shopping local, while the Tower View Team is about public art.
Wetrich adds that over 6,800 volunteer hours were tallied from last year, which he believes is an under-reported amount. Contact Jefferson Matters at 515-386-2155 or stop by the Welcome Center to learn more.
