Blake Forrester earned his 100th career win in silver and red as the Mustangs boys wrestling team took on both the ADM Tigers and Cedar Rapids Jefferson on Saturday.
Blake Forrester wrestles in the 138-pound weight class, and the senior has been one of the staples of Mustang wrestling throughout his entire high school career. He is a perennial candidate for the state tournament every February in downtown Des Moines, and this past weekend earned career win number 100 with DCG.
Against the ADM Tigers on Saturday, the Mustangs had individual success. Two Mustang wrestlers earned top marks. Caden Hinders won the crown in the 215, and Kahne Westergreen made his way to the championship round in the 285, but fell just short in the championship round.
Next up was Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Blake Forrester etched his name in the DCG record books and made second place, along with Avery Van Zelderen. Brayden Crosser and Tyde Nelson both climbed the mountain in their respective weight classes at the end of the match for first-place honors.
Mustangs wrestling will be in action next on Thursday night at the Meadows Main Gym.
