The leader of the Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team, who Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School partners with, will be honored this summer at the national level.

According to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum, RRNW Head Coach James Biscoglia will be receiving the Bob Sidden High School Coaching Excellence Award in June. Last year, RRNW won their first ever girls state championship team title and was also ranked fifth in the USA Wrestling Rankings. Biscoglia is humbled to be recognized, but says he couldn’t do it without the people around him.

“It means that I have a great support system all the way from my wife to my assistant coaches to the mentors that I’ve had over the years. It’s great to be recognized, and I don’t want to downplay it and say that I didn’t have any part in my own success, but there sure were a heck of a lot of other people that were involved in holding my hands along the journey. And so I’m tickled that they’ve recognized me, but I’m also very humbled by the folks around me that help lift me up.”

Biscoglia will be officially celebrated during a banquet at Prairie Links Golf and Event Center in Waverly on June 19th.
