District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair

As the 2026 Legislative session continues, one senator has some extra duties.

District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair says that as the Senate President, the first week of session is one of the busiest as she presides over the Condition of the State, Condition of the Judiciary and Condition of the Guard. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the biggest thing she and her staff takes care of is in regards to the legislative bills themselves as the session continues.

“So it’s my office’s job to make sure that the bills get sent to the proper committee, so they’re being considered by legislators who have maybe an expertise in those fields, so that they’re getting properly vetted. And that’s one of the biggest ways that I help to keep things moving along in the right direction, is making sure bills get to where they need to go and in a timely manner. I don’t want to hold up that process in my office by not getting those bills assigned, because that just holds up those subcommittees and committees from happening.”

Sinclair mentions that she also takes care of procedural things, sharing that senators may come to her office on questions about how many days part of the process may take, what code section they should be looking at in regards to a bill they are working on, and much more.
