Last night the Guthrie County Hospital Trustees met to discuss purchasing the building the Panora Clinic resides in.
GCH Foundation Executive Director Dennis Flanery says that when the building was initially built the hospital chose to lease use of it to stay out of debt regarding the building, as they weren’t sure at the time how well the clinic would do. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the hospital now is firmly committed to the community, and wants to own the building in the case there are any changes they need or would like to make. Flanery explains that the hospital has already begun looking at how to do that.
“The hospital’s working on how they want to finance that. They’ve been talking with the local banks. They have some cash that they would like to put down on the building. And then they’re also looking at a favorable program that the USDA offers.”
Flanery mentions that should everyone be in agreement, they hope that the purchase of the building could be completed in the next 30-60 days. He adds that the only thing changing would just be ownership of the building, meaning patients will still see the providers they know so well, and enjoy the services they currently receive.
