
Paton-Churdan hosted Woodward Academy last night in boys’ high school non-conference basketball in Churdan with the visiting Knights winning by a 60-54 score. Coach Josh Cerveny’s Rockets are now 4-11 on the season while the Knights have a 4-7 mark.
Junior Trevon Keely had 26 points to lead P-C in scoring with 10 by senior Phoenix Hartman, and seven by sophomore Donovan Martin. Unofficially, junior Bryce Stephenson had nine rebounds with senior Cayden Stream at seven, and Martin five. Unofficially, Keely blocked two shots and recorded two steals.
“We were short handed agains and gave ourselves a chance to win in the fourth quarter. We just didn’t make enough plays. We probably missed 10 open layups that we need to finish. We have a few attitude things to clean up, but overall I am proud of how we battled. We need to get healthy the last couple weeks of the season,” said the coach.
Benny Doe had 25 points for the Knights. Only four WA players scored points, but all had 10 or more. The Knights led 32-24 at halftime.
