An outdoor recreational activity is installed again in Jefferson.

Parks and Recreation Director Nathan Kral says the ice skating rink is now open, just west of the municipal swimming pool, between Chautauqua and Kelso Parks. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio it is free for anyone to use, but that participants must use their own equipment such as skates and  hockey sticks. He notes that it is open during normal park hours of 5am-11pm, for as long as the ice will hold.

Kral points out that for safety reasons, items like inner tubes or anything else that can slide on the ice is not allowed, along with no food or beverages, including hot drinks and glass containers. He thanks the Public Works crews for filling the rink and getting it ready to use for this next stretch of colder temperatures.
