One local state lawmaker holds an important role within the committee structure at the Statehouse.
District 47 Representative Carter Nordman says he is the Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and he explains how important being in that position is in terms of what that committee means.
“Well, it’s a very large committee and I’m very honored to (have) been chosen by the (House) Speaker (Pat Grassley) to chair it. The number one priority is going to be property taxes through there. That committee touches property taxes, all income taxes, any tax and fee that the state collects that’s the committee of jurisdiction. So it does touch a lot of issues and it’s pretty far reaching. And so, we’re going to be pretty busy this year.”
The other committees that Nordman is serving on this Legislative Session includes commerce, judiciary and administrative and rules.
