
Over a two day stretch, the AC/GC Chargers wrestling team took part in the John J Harris Invitational, and came away with two champions.
Continuing his dominant season, junior Ryder Cline took the top spot in the 150 weight class, taking his first round with a bye, then beating Griswold’s Hudson Perkins by fall at 31 seconds. In the quarterfinals, Cline beat Creston’s Colby Brammer by fall at 1:17, then took the semifinals by defeating Missouri Valley’s Luke Cleaver by decision with a score of 2-1, and finished things up in the championship match with a victory over Atlantic’s Kalvin Hayes by decision, with a score of 8-5.
The second championship performance came from senior Carter Richter, who also started things off with a bye, then picked up a win against Panorama’s Caleb Prescott by fall at 32 seconds. In the quarterfinal round, Richter won by fall again, this time over Creston’s Thomas Mikkelsen at 52 seconds, then took the semifinals with a victory over Atlantic’s Travin Thomas by an 11-8 decision. Richter took the championship with a victory by fall over Riverside’s Wyatt Bell at 2:47.
