The Greene County and Paton-Churdan Speech Teams each saw success this past Saturday at the Iowa High School Speech Association District Large Group Contest.

According to Greene County Co-Speech Coach Kelley Gray Choral Reading, Group Improv and Musical Theatre each earned a Division I-Rating from the room judge and have advanced to state. She states that the Choral Reading ensemble included Natalie Towers, Evelyn Snyder, London Harris, Becca Anderson, Savannah Lansman and Olivia Smith. Gray explained the students involved in Group Improv were Savannah Lansman, Aden Bardole and Lucy Vander Linden; while Musical Theatre was Vander Linden and Carter Petterson. 

Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Amanda Tasler said their lone entry of Choral Reading also earned a Division I-Rating and is advancing to state. She pointed out that the piece is a tribute to the memory of their secretary Heather Lansman, who passed away suddenly last year. She detailed the students who participated were Anastasia Hobbs, Bridget Hobbs, Catarina Hobbs, Ella Tasler, Alivya Smith, Edynn Smith, Lily Trecker, Kaliyah Minnihan, Phoenix Hartman, Maggie Reed.

The IHSSA State Large Group Contest will take place on February 7th.
