Catholic Schools Week runs through Saturday and an educational institution in Perry is celebrating it with a variety of events.

St. Patrick School Principal Kandice Pattillo says the national week is a fun way to highlight the school with dress-up days and activities for the students and the community.

“It feels a little bit like our homecoming week, but really we’re celebrating all of the great things about St. Pat’s and what we are, who we are and why we’re a Catholic school. That’s sort of the whole point of Catholic Schools Week is to help the community and our parents and everybody see how we just set ourselves apart.”

Monday’s theme is “Celebrate Our Students” with students wearing St. Patrick colors. Tuesday’s theme will be “Celebrate Our Community” with students dressing as their favorite saint, Wednesday is “Celebrate Our Nation” with red, white and blue attire, Thursday is “Celebrate Vocations” and Friday will round out the week with “Faith, Fun, Favorite Teachers” with the option for students to wear pajamas or dress like their favorite teacher.

Pattillo invites community members to attend a mass hosted by the middle school at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by cookies and coffee. She adds that school will dismiss at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday as the eighth grade students will host an all-day Rosary Retreat followed by an All-School Rosary Prayer in the gym.

Pattillo details that Friday will be a fun way to help wrap up the week with a staff vs middle school students dodge ball game and a movie for the elementary students.

Catholic Schools Week will come to a close on Saturday and Pattillo says the final day will be about celebrating families. She invites the community to attend an open house from 2-4 p.m., followed by a 4:30 p.m. mass at St. Patrick Church.
