Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Assistant Basketball Coach Trenton Hillbrands credits the effort from sophomore Walker Holmberg.

The Tigers have played in 14 games so far this season, posting a record of 12-2 overall (9-2 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and won their latest game on Thursday 62-45 in Winterset. A key contributor to ADM’s success this year is the play from sophomore Walker Holmberg, who primarily comes off the bench, but has been inserted into the starting lineup for the past four games.

Holmberg brought energy in ADM’s loss to Carroll on Tuesday, coming up with a steal late down the stretch, then garnered 12 points in the Winterset victory. Assistant Coach Trenton Hillbrands highlights that Holmberg has a mature demeanor.

“I’ve talked about it a lot this year with these guys about mature teams compete night in and night out. And Walker, for being a young guy, he does a heck of a job of competing, and just playing his butt off. And I truly think the game of basketball rewards guys that play hard, and he’s the ideal candidate for that.”

For the season outlook, Holmberg has put up 77 total points during the season, shooting 51 percent from the field, has 27 rebounds, 16 assists, and nine steals. ADM will be back in Adel tomorrow to host Bondurant-Farrar for a girl-boy double header, beginning at 6pm.
