The AC/GC Chargers basketball teams split their games with the Clarinda Cardinals Monday night, with the girls winning 62-58, and the boys falling 70-37.

The Chargers girls started the first quarter trailing, but were able to come back at the end of the quarter to take the 11-9 lead. The second quarter was more in favor of AC/GC, as they outscored Clarinda 22-8 to go into halftime up 33-17. The second half of the game was more favorable for the Cardinals, as they outscored the Chargers 41-29, but victory was ultimately for AC/GC as they won 62-58. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the game was the entire last minute of the second quarter, where freshman Kailee Kautzkey stole the ball, scored, stole it again and was fouled, where she put in two free throws, stole the ball a third time and dished an assist to junior Meranda Gruber, and got a fourth steal for another assist to Gruber as the buzzer sounded.

The Chargers boys were able to take many good shots, but were unable to get many to fall for them. The team trailed 20-10 at the end of the first quarter, and 36-20 at halftime. The Chargers fell further behind in the second half, being outscored 34-17 for the 70-37 loss. In the boys game, the Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game came from Blaize Dorsey, who found himself left wide open on two separate occasions from beyond the arch, and punished the Cardinals with a couple of deep three pointers.
