Perfect Games in Ames was the site of the Heart of the Raccoon Conference girls’ bowling tournament on Monday. The brand new league for bowling was formed between Greene County and Nevada from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and ADM, Ballard (Huxley), Bondurant-Farrar, Carroll, and Gilbert from the Raccoon River Conference.

Ballard won the team championship in the 15 Baker games with 2,098 pins and the Rams were last among the seven teams with a pin total of 1,437.

Individuals bowled three games, and teams had 15 Baker games. Leading the Rams in the individual series was Shelby Finley at 315, Lizzy Long 276, Alivia Cornell 286, Ella Hoffman 253, Sara Stoffa 244, and Madison Carstens 202. The Rams were missing their top two bowlers on the season in freshman Madison Christensen and sophomore Trinity Hull. Finley had the high game on the day for the Rams at 115 pins.

Coach Woodford told Raccoon Valley Radio, “Overall, it was a decent day. In Baker’s, if someone would throw a spare or a strike, we just couldn’t put marks together.”

The gierls have their State Qualifying Meet in Class 1A on Monday, Feb. 2 in Adel. Osceola was the original site, but the bowling alley there was destroyed by fire over the weekend.
