On Monday, the Perry Jayettes basketball team played host to the West Central Valley Wildcats for a back and forth battle but the Wildcats came out ahead over the Jayettes by one, 44-43.

After being held to only one point in the first quarter, Perry had an electric second quarter scoring 18 points to tie the Wildcats at halftime, 19-19. Both defenses clashed in the third quarter, but Perry pulled ahead 26-25 entering the fourth. Down 44-40 in the final two seconds, Karagyn Whelchel hit a buzzer beater three pointer but the Jayettes fell short 44-43.  Whelchel, lead the charge for the Jayettes scoring 20 points, with Lily Myers behind her with 13 with three free throws made.

The Jayettes fall to 3-12, and gear up for conference play at home as Perry plays host to the Saydel Eagles in double header action tonight. Coverage begins on KDLS at 5:45 for the double header, with tip off for the girls first at 6pm.
