A department with the city of Jefferson is going to get an overhaul with new branding.
Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Lyndsey Wathen says earlier this month, their Board approved a new logo with new fonts, along with different color schemes to group certain activities and programs together, while also combining that with recognizable icons so that people can quickly find what they want to sign up for. The Iowa State University graduate with a graphic design degree talks about the ability to make these kinds of changes as one of her passionate parts of taking on this new job.
“It’s very fun. I feel very blessed that I’m just trusted to change things like this. So yeah, I feel excited that it’s happening so quickly and that there wasn’t any push back, that’s very exciting.”
Wathen describes a new mural that people will eventually see when they walk into the Greene County Community Center.
“I brought it up a couple of years ago. I had just put together a new sports icon pattern that kind of displays all of the different things that we do at the community center. And so, that’ll be happening in our front area at some point. We will repaint over the stripe that’s in the front area and put this mural up.”
She appreciated working with Director Nathan Kral before going to the JPRD Board for final approval.
