There was a police presence at Panorama Secondary building Thursday morning to investigate a reported situation.
According to Superintendent Kasey Huebner, Thursday morning in the middle school hallway, and before there were many students in the building, a small caliber bullet was found and reported to administration immediately. He states that local law enforcement was contacted and Panora Police Chief Matt Reising responded quickly to investigate.
Huebner explains that Chief Reising determined there was no credible threat to students or staff, that there was no evidence of a plan or intent to harm. He says the police didn’t see a firearm, anyone talking about it or any found throughout the investigation. Huebner emphasizes that the issue was addressed and appropriate measures were taken immediately and Chief Reising advised that the school could continue as normal.
Huebner stresses that safety to all students and staff is always the top priority and that situations like this are handled seriously and he appreciates the partnership with local law enforcement to ensure that the schools are safe.
