A fire incident Thursday in Jefferson along Highway 4 was quickly handled by first responders.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, just before 12:30pm, officers and the Jefferson Fire Department responded to a tire that had caught fire on a grain trailer in the southbound lane of Iowa Highway 4, just north of the intersection with US Highway 30. Crews quickly put out the fire and the damage was contained just to the tire. 

The report shows that the semi-tractor and trailer are owned by NEW Cooperative and the driver was not injured. The report states that the vehicle was removed from the highway shortly before 2:30pm.
