There is a deadline of tomorrow for some Greene County 4-H’ers to be aware of.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the market beef identification must be done on 4-H Online by the end of the day tomorrow. She points out that this is for 4-H’ers wanting to show market beef at this year’s Greene County Fair or the Iowa State Fair. She talks about how many local entries and 4-H’ers there are wanting to exhibit in this livestock category.

“I can tell you we had, at weigh-in this year, 110 cattle come through weigh-in. But we probably had about 30 exhibitors, just and estimated, and probably five at (the) state (fair). But quite a few kids and numbers are a little bit up this year, so we’re excited to see what happens.”  

Hardaway adds that this is a state-mandated deadline and she will also be online to verify all the information that the 4-H’er and their family has entered is correct.
