Tonight is an annual fundraiser for a non-profit organization in Greene County that supports a statewide group.
Organizer Petra Dawson is with the Pony Express Riders of Greene County, and they are hosting a bingo, silent auction and raffle fundraiser at the Jefferson VFW Hall on the downtown square tonight. Dawson points out that while bingo is going on, there are a few silent auction items from donations of local businesses, and bidding ends around 9:30pm.
She details that this year, they are including a raffle with mainly gift cards that were also donated by local businesses. Dawson says raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and first place will get a prize of over $100 in gift cards, along with a bath gift set and a tote. Bingo cards also cost money to purchase different rounds as well. Doors open at 5:30pm with a free-will chili supper and bingo begins at 6:30pm. She adds that all proceeds go towards their mission of supporting special needs individuals at Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines.
Dawson is appreciative of everyone’s contributions to their fundraiser and for everyone that attends it, as well as the cooperation with the Jefferson VFW Post #9599.
