
The West Central Valley Basketball Teams were on the road Friday night in Van Meter losing in both contests, as the Wildcat girls fell 36-33 and the boys were defeated 61-35.
In the girls game, both the Wildcats and Bulldogs scored a combined nine points, as Van Meter led 5-4. However in the second, West Central Valley tallied 10 points to march out to a 14-13 advantage at halftime. The third quarter saw the Bulldogs rack up 12 to jump back on top 25-24 to head to the fourth. Van Meter would score 11 more points to hold off West Central Valley by a final mark of 36-33.
With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 7-11 on the season, as the Bulldogs improve to 10-7 overall.
For the boys contest, Van Meter doubled up the score at the end of the first quarter, leading 16-8. The Bulldogs notched 20 more points in the second, limiting the Wildcats to only six to charge to a big 36-14 advantage at halftime. The Wildcats scored their most points in the third quarter at 13, but still were behind 48-27, and would go onto lose 61-35.
West Central Valley falls to 12-6 on the year, while Van Meter makes it to 10-7 overall.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a home contest against Des Moines Christian on Tuesday, and the Wildcats will travel to Madrid on Monday to face the Tigers.
