DCG basketball travels to Norwalk for a massive Little Hawkeye showdown on Tuesday night.
The girls are up first, looking for revenge on the team that gave them their only conference loss and one of two losses on the season. The Mustangs are 15-2(7-1), ranked #4, and are coming off a thrashing of Oskaloosa, where Macy Meyer dropped 20 points to lead all scorers. The Norwalk Warriors are 15-1(9-0), ranked #3, and are led by sophomore phenomenon Braylyn Birmingham. She averages just over 30 ppg, which is second in all of Iowa high school girls’ basketball.
The boys’ game is the nightcap of the evening. DCG dropped their game on Friday against the Indians, where they were missing junior Brody Burke in a big way. Wyatt Valenta and Brody Logan each had 12, but they didn’t play as a team and fell, 56-51, to go to 8-6(4-3). The Warriors are 11-4(7-2) and are coming off a 66-45 win over Indianola, where Tillman Papcun dropped 28 points.
It’s a marquee matchup for both teams tonight with tip-off scheduled for the girls at 6 pm. You can tune in on KDLS2 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
