Season three of high school girls’ bowling ended for Greene County on Monday at the Adel Family Fun Center with a Class 1A State Qualifying Meet. Coach John Woodford’s team was without its top two bowlers on the season and the Rams finished in sixth place among seven teams with 1,456 pins. Clarke (Osceola) won with 2,393 pins and qualified for the State Tournament. Nevada rolled 2,036, West Central Valley (Stuart) 1,727, Madrid 1,587, Creston 1,487, the Rams at 1,456, and 882 by Mount Ayr.
Bowlers rolled three individual games and 15 Baker games. The meet was originally scheduled for Osceola, but the bowling alley in Osceola suffered heavy damage in a late January fire.
Leading the Rams was Lizzy Long with 294 for the three games, followed by 285 for Alivia Cornell, 266 from Sara Stoffa, 265 by Shelby Finley, 264 for Ella Hoffman, and 191 from Madesyn Carstens. The Greene County coach thanked all the girls that bowled and hopes those that aren’t seniors will be back next season.
The Rams are home in basketball tonight with a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader vs. Saydel (Des Moines). The girls play at 6 o’clock with the boys to follow and both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com
