The West Central Valley Girls Basketball Team traveled to Madrid High School on Monday, as the Wildcat girls took a 34-31 loss.

The first quarter was low scoring, as the game was tied at 6-6. During the second quarter, the match remained close with each team capturing 8 points to be knotted up at 14-14 for the halftime break. The Tigers won the third quarter 7-5 to take a slight 21-19 advantage to the fourth quarter. 

In the final frame, West Central Valley went up 31-28 with one minute remaining, but Madrid senior Laura Eagleton hit a game-tying three pointer in the left hand corner. On the other end for the Wildcats, sophomore Zoey Reicks missed a three, then the Tigers had the final possession and it was senior Samantha Springer that hit a late three-pointer on the right wing with two seconds left to lift Madrid over West Central Valley 34-31.

With the close loss, the Wildcats drop to 7-12 on the year, while the Tigers improve to 9-9 overall.

Madrid will stay at home tonight, inviting Ogden for a conference game, and West Central Valley will return home to Stuart for a conference matchup versus AC/GC tonight, beginning at 6pm.
